Bridgestone Americas announced it has made a minority investment in Kodiak Robotics, a leading U.S.-based self-driving trucking company. The partnership will allow Bridgestone to integrate its smart-sensing tire technologies and fleet solutions into Kodiak’s level 4 autonomous trucks. The companies will also pilot future autonomous and smart tire technologies to further enhance vehicle intelligence and advance toward a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable mobility future

Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone), has donated $25,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Manchester, NH, to provide local kids who are at-risk of or experiencing homelessness access to critical resources and enrichment opportunities. The gift is part of the Bridgestone Driving Great Futures campaign where customers and teammates can donate to support Boys & Girls Clubs at any of the 2,200 BSRO locations nationwide.

Bridgestone Americas is expanding its fuel-efficient Ecopia commercial truck tire line with the introduction of the all new Bridgestone R213 Ecopia tire. The new tire is engineered to reduce operating costs by delivering ultra-high fuel efficiency, the highest ever offered on a Bridgestone long haul steer tire, in combination with significant improvements in wear performance.

Bridgestone announced it will increase prices up to 8 percent on its U.S. and Canada Bridgestone and Firestone OTR tires and Firestone Ag Tires and Tubes portfolios. It will also increase prices an average of 14 percent on the Firestone Tracks portfolio. This price adjustment is a necessary step as Bridgestone continues to manage market dynamics, including escalated logistics, business and raw material costs.

Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) announced that its group company Bridgestone Mining Solutions Australia Pty. Ltd., has entered an agreement to acquire Otraco International Pty Ltd (Otraco), a leader in Off-the-Road (OTR) tire management solutions, from Downer EDI Limited. This acquisition will accelerate the growth of Bridgestone’s global mining solutions business and expand the company’s service network in key markets such as Australia, Chile and South Africa

Bridgestone has announced an exclusive partnership with Netherlands-based mobility innovator Lightyear. Bridgestone has engineered tires specifically for Lightyear One, the world’s first long-range solar electric vehicle, which will be commercially available in Europe by the end of 2021

The equipment will be installed together with new infrastructure that will further contribute to the Group’s implementation of its Sustainability Business Framework roadmap, which entails linking its initiatives for recycling resources and contributing to the realization of a carbon neutral society with its business model. Specifically, solar power generation equipment will be installed to increase the portion of the Shimonoseki Plant’s electricity generated from renewable energy, reducing CO2 emissions and environmental impacts.
