Ultra high Mooney branched EPDM: Easy to process high filler loading compounds
by Sharon Wu, Greg Li and Santosh Bawiskar, Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics
Although many EPDM grades are still produced using conventional Ziegler-Natta catalysts, molecular catalysts for EPDM production have been adopted readily and have grown rapidly. Dow has introduced its Advanced Molecular Catalyst (AMC) technology as a new benchmark in the EPDM industry by enabling even higher process sustainability and catalyst efficiency. For the rubber end user, Dow’s AMC technology unlocks novel molecular capabilities for the development of new products. For instance, the new AMC technology can efficiently produce EPDMs having ultra high molecular weight, higher diene content and increased levels of long chain branching compared to conventional metallocene catalysts, resulting in faster curing and mixing.
