Yokohama Rubber selected as original equipment for Mazda CX-5 across global markets
Hiratsuka, Japan — The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. announced that two of its premium tire lines have been selected as original equipment for Mazda Motor Corporation’s all-new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV, with fitments varying by global market.
Yokohama’s ADVAN V61 tires have been selected for the new Mazda CX-5 models sold in Japan, Europe and other international markets, while GEOLANDAR X-CV tires have been selected for CX-5 models sold in North America.
The ADVAN V61 tires are supplied in size 225/65R17 102V and serve as the premium SUV summer tire in Yokohama Rubber’s flagship ADVAN brand lineup. Designed to deliver premium driving performance, the tires provide a balance of fuel and energy efficiency, handling stability and quietness for both urban driving and long-distance touring.
The GEOLANDAR X-CV tires, supplied in size 225/65R17 102H, are highway terrain tires developed to meet M+S (mud and snow) standards while delivering high-speed performance, drivability, safety, comfort, durability and fuel efficiency. The tires were developed using Yokohama Rubber’s proprietary HAICoLab framework, an AI-based development platform that combines human creativity with artificial intelligence-driven data analysis.
The Mazda CX-5, Mazda’s best-selling model since 2018, enters its third generation with updated styling, enhanced ride comfort, improved quietness and expanded interior usability. Mazda said the new CX-5 continues to evolve the automaker’s “Soul of Motion” design philosophy and “Jinba-Ittai” driving dynamics.
Under Yokohama Rubber’s three-year medium-term management plan, Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), the company aims to increase sales of high-value-added tires by expanding adoption of its ADVAN and GEOLANDAR brands as original equipment on new vehicles.
The new Mazda CX-5 launched in North America in March 2026 and in Japan in May 2026.
