Yokohama Rubber to launch new ADVAN V61 tire for premium SUVs

Hiratsuka, Japan—The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced the launch of its new premium SUV tire, the ADVAN V61, which will be sold as a new category product under its global flagship tire brand ADVAN. The new product, which primarily targets the rapidly growing midsize to large premium SUV market, will be available successively in markets around the world, excluding North America, from February 2025. Yokohama Rubber plans to offer 17 sizes of the ADVAN V61 ranging from 17 to 22 inches, including tires to be installed as original equipment (OE) on new vehicles.

The newly launched ADVAN V61 is a premium SUV tire that delivers exceptional performance to meet the needs of automobile manufacturers. Along with ADVAN’s hallmark premium-grade driving performance, it offers a high-level balance of fuel and energy efficiency, handling stability, and quietness, achieving both comfortable city driving and long-distance touring for heavyweight SUVs.

The ADVAN V61 has been approved by Japanese manufacturers as the OE tire for premium SUVs such as the Lexus RX and Mazda CX-80, battery electric vehicles and plug-in electric vehicles such as the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru SOLTERRA. Delivery of these tires has already begun. In addition, the company plans to expand the ADVAN V61 size lineup for the general market, creating a full product range.

The ADVAN V61 was developed by leveraging Yokohama Rubber’s advanced proprietary technologies honed over many years and integrating cutting-edge AI and simulation technologies under the company’s AI framework, HAICoLab*. Precision was dramatically improved to meet the desired performance levels, resulting in an optimized custom design for the tire’s tread pattern, profile, and structure. In addition, a special tire compound was formulated utilizing Yokohama Rubber’s exclusive rubber blending technology, A.R.T. Mixing. As a result, the ADVAN V61 delivers a high-level combination of conflicting performance requirements including fuel efficiency, grip performance, and wear resistance while at the same time offering excellent handling stability and ride comfort.
