JR Automation breaks ground on $72 million headquarters in Michigan

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group company, announced plans for a new global headquarters in Zeeland, Michigan. The announcement follows a strategic meeting in Tokyo between Hitachi, Ltd. (“Hitachi”) executives, JR Automation leadership, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation, global collaboration, and investment in Michigan’s advanced manufacturing sector.

JR Automation officially broke ground on the new headquarters September 17, 2025, with construction expected to be completed by early 2027.

This milestone honors the visionary legacy of Ken Assink, founder of JR Automation, whose pioneering spirit helped establish West Michigan as a hub for advanced automation. It also reflects Hitachi’s dedication to preserving that legacy by keeping the global headquarters rooted where it all began.

Continental shuffles Supervisory Board

Following the successful spin-off of Aumovio, Continental AG’s Supervisory Board is undergoing personnel changes. Stefan E. Buchner stepped down on September 4, 2025, to become the new chair of the Supervisory Board of Aumovio SE. Dr. Gunter Dunkel resigned effective September 17, 2025. Sabrina Soussan will join the Continental Supervisory Board as the new shareholder representative, with the local court expecting to appoint her at the end of September 2025. She will be nominated for election at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on April 30, 2026, after which the Supervisory Board is expected to elect her as its chair. She will succeed Prof. Wolfgang Reitzle, who will step down from the Continental Supervisory Board at the close of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting as planned after 16 years.
