Davis-Standard’s John Christiano receives Distinguished Service Award from SPE
Pawcatuck, CT — John Christiano, chief technologist for extrusion at Davis-Standard, has received the 2026 Distinguished Service Award from the Extrusion Division of the Society of Plastics Engineers.
Christiano accepted the award March 11 in Pittsburgh during the SPE annual meeting, the company announced April 2. The honor recognizes individuals for significant, lasting contributions to the development and advancement of the global extrusion industry.
Christiano is considered one of the leading technology experts in extrusion. His more than 30-year career includes numerous patents in areas such as feedscrew design, die design, diagnostic control systems and forming equipment for polymer processing. He has frequently presented research at ANTEC, RETEC and TAPPI conferences and has been a member of SPE since 1986.
He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in management science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Christian Renners, Davis-Standard business unit president, praised the honoree.

Davis-Standard, based in Pawcatuck, designs and manufactures extrusion and converting equipment for the plastics industry. The company said the award highlights its role as a leader in plastics technology and its team of technical experts.
