Continental continues to step up its activities to ensure a circular economy. Recently, the tire manufacturer added recovered carbon black (rCB) to its newly produced Super Elastic solid tires at its tire plant in Korbach, Germany, thus reducing the use of fossil raw materials and CO2 emissions. Solid tires such as Continental’s SC20+ already contain around 60 percent renewable and recycled materials thanks to their high natural rubber content. By 2050 at the latest, Continental aims to use 100 percent sustainable materials in its tire products.

new Teknor Apex CEO, Donald Wiseman, has a robust history within the plastics industry and a deep expertise in masterbatches and compounding. Most recently he held the position of CEO at Star Plastics. Previously, he was the President for Performance Products and Solutions with PolyOne, Managing Director and General Manager in Taiwan for Cabot Microelectronics, and various leadership roles at Americhem.  He will be relocating from Cleveland to work out of the Teknor Apex Headquarters in Pawtucket RI

Michelin is marketing the MICHELIN XTRA DEFEND tire in a new size: 33.25 R 29. It will replace the MICHELIN X-Super Terrain + tire in 800/80 R 29 as of December 2023.
The new tire has been developed specially to fit the VOLVO A60H, the biggest articulated dump truck in the world. It is mainly used for mine and quarry applications.

American Weatherstar officially opened its new 10,500 square foot manufacturing facility in Irvington, Alabama.

“We moved here right before the pandemic kicked off. As a matter of fact, we moved here right before everything shut down in Mobile County. And it’s been a daunting couple of years there preparing for this. It definitely delayed the opening of this building. But it’s been a long road and an exciting day for everybody in the company,” President Brian O’Donnell said.
