Metso opens new rubber products plant in China
Espoo, Finland – Metso has announced a major investment in a new rubber products manufacturing facility in Quzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, aimed at strengthening its service and supply capabilities for customers in the region.
The new plant will produce rubber and Poly-Met mill linings as well as Trellex® screening media, key wear parts used extensively in mining and aggregates operations. By establishing localized production, Metso expects to improve product availability, shorten delivery times, and offer stronger performance and reliability to its Chinese customer base.
According to the company, the investment reflects rising demand from mining, construction and materials processing sectors in Greater China, where faster turnaround and tailored solutions are increasingly important. Production of screening media at the facility is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with mill lining output planned for later in the first half of the year.
Metso selected Quzhou as the site for the new factory in part because it already hosts a top-tier foundry, allowing synergies with existing operations and access to local supply chain and research resources. The strategy is consistent with Metso’s broader aim of expanding its regional footprint and reinforcing long-term commitment to markets where rapid response and customization drive competitive advantage.
Metso leaders have emphasised that the new plant will not only bring production closer to customers but also support high-quality manufacturing of complex rubber and composite components to global standards.
This move underlines a trend within the industrial rubber sector toward regionalized manufacturing bases, as companies seek to reduce logistics barriers, improve service levels, and respond proactively to dynamic customer needs in key markets around the world.
