Spring Technical Meeting presentations to focus on sustainability and environmental risk

Akron, OH – The Rubber Division, ACS, Spring Technical Meeting features two days of presentations focused on emerging strategies to improve the sustainability and supply security of rubber materials. They integrate advances in devulcanization, alternative natural rubber crops, CO₂-derived and bio-based components, and sustainable fillers with insights into structure–property relationships, crystallization behavior and tire wear emissions.

Wednesday, April 15, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Sustainability in Materials, Compounding and Processing

April 15 morning sessions include discussions about recycled and bio-based replacement materials and carbon footprint mitigation. Featured speakers:

The afternoon is devoted to speakers from TARDISS – the NSF funded engineering research center for innovation in American domestic natural rubber from Guayule. Featured speakers:

• Judit Puskas, The Ohio State University

April 16, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. – Will focus on mitigation of environmental risks where you can learn about the impacts of European deforestation regulations on the rubber industry from Colin Miller (11Foundry) and the mechanism for nanoparticle release from tire treads from Benjamin Yavitt (University of Cincinnati).
