Wacker introduced new high-performance additives for composites at JEC

Munich, Germany — Wacker Chemie AG introduced new silicone-based additives and materials for composite applications at the JEC World 2026 trade show in Paris.

The company said the new products include two impact modifiers, GENIOPERL W37 and GENIOPERL W38, designed to improve the durability and mechanical performance of thermosetting resins used in composites.

According to Wacker, the silicone-based additives enhance the shock and impact resistance of composite parts by forming nanoscale elastomeric domains within the resin matrix. The resulting structure increases toughness and helps prevent cracking under impact.

The modifiers are intended for use in demanding composite, adhesive and coating applications where mechanical reliability, fatigue resistance and low-temperature performance are required. Recommended dosage levels are typically between 2% and 8% by weight of the resin system.

Wacker said both additives were designed with reduced cyclics content and can be easily dispersed in organic resin systems using standard mixing equipment.

The company is also showcasing POWERSIL Resin 710, a silicone resin molding compound for manufacturing heat-resistant molded parts. Components produced from the material can withstand temperatures of up to 220 degrees Celsius for extended periods and meet thermal class R requirements.

According to Wacker, the resin compound can be processed using compression molding, pressure gelation or injection molding and provides electrical insulation properties, mechanical strength and UV stability.

Additional materials highlighted by the company at JEC World include SILRES silicone resins for improved electrical insulation and flame retardancy, HDK pyrogenic silica for rheology control, VINNAPAS low-profile additives for shrinkage reduction and dimensional stability, and GENIOSIL silanes used to improve adhesion and treat fillers and fibers.

JEC World 2026 takes place March 10–12 in Paris.
