Kevin Brown of Orion Carbon will discuss the unique characteristics of acetylene blacks and their potential applications. Nicki Hershberger from ARDL will explore how increased thermal conductivity in tire tread can improve wear resistance and aging. Yoshikazu Ueno of Kuraray will present on the benefits of Silane Functionalized Liquid Rubber for improved processing and tire performance.

Environmental Risk will be held on the same day from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As environmental concerns continue to influence material choices, this session will address the risks and potential solutions surrounding tire compounds and their ecological impact.

Erick Sharp of ACE Laboratories will share findings from a study on the leachability of wear particles from tire tread compounds. Joshua Guilliams from Smithers will present holistic approaches to developing alternatives to 6PPD, a widely used antioxidant in tires. James Hobday of Emissions Analytics will introduce a method for analyzing tire rubber to identify environmentally significant chemicals and build a comprehensive chemical source profile.
